Update on Regulatory Process for Proposed Changes to Baystate Mary Lane Hospital
April 13, 2016
Today, as part of the next steps in the regulatory process related to our proposed changes in the Baystate Health Eastern Region, Baystate Mary Lane received confirmation from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) that inpatient services are necessary for preserving access and health status in the Baystate Mary Lane service area. As we anticipated, DPH has requested that Baystate Mary Lane provide a plan for assuring access to inpatient services, continuing community engagement and addressing any remaining concerns from the community in the hospital’s service area. This is consistent with our recommendations to provide inpatient services at Baystate Wing Hospital, while maintaining the Baystate Mary Lane campus as an outpatient center with a satellite emergency facility. We are already working to complete this plan and will respond in the requested time line. We will continue to work with key community leaders to continue our efforts to more efficiently and effectively deliver high quality services in the Eastern Region.
