Presented a summary of barriers to education that help explain why Ware (and surrounding towns) unemployment is so high.
Data suggests that driving to education and training programs in franklin, Hampshire and Worcester counties is prohibitively expensive.
Allison – Walk for Children across MA starts Friday May 1, and anyone who wants to join it should email Allison
Julie Jediny – food bank at hillside village is now on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (May 19) from 1pm-2pm, has a newsletter that reaches 200 families that can take announcements
Jane Simonds: approved for IOP license intensive outpatient program for addiction – starting July 1, 3 days per week, 3.5 hours of counseling
Kristin – will be sending and posting fliers of the rooms that will be available in Hardwick via SMOC
Jessica Ware – Head Start is looking to fill slots for the fall
Laurie – Saturday May 9 10-11:30 STEM workshop at the Ware Family Center, doing science with kids at home free childcare!
Lynn – recruiting for next fall’s parent-child home program (Warren, W Brookfield, Palmer Monson belchertown ehamp south Hadley, Pelham, ware)
Haley – walden behavioral clinic, opening new clinic on university drive, trainings for agency stuff, Amherst open house May 21 4:30-6:30
Gail FF – QVCDC launched the financial fitness club with 6 participants who are saving for a variety of financial goals (car, housing, education, small business) in Ware
