20 people attended the Narcan training; 30 watched the movie.
Gail discussed what it might take for us to become a pilot site for a program that distributes Narcan and collects information about who uses it.
There was a significant number of overdoses this weekend; how do we disseminate information quickly?

SPIFFY – strategic planning initiative for families and youth
This grant focuses on alcohol and marijuana use – reductions in use of these leads to a reduction in use of harder drugs later on.
Grant uses environmental strategies to address substance use.
Grant covers Northampton, Hadley, Amherst, South Hadley and Ware.
Working to identify issues of youth substance use, and connect with local coalitions. Offering alcohol serving trainings at very low cost for establishments that sell alcohol.

School nurse conference coming up –to help schools build a plan to screen for substance use risk.
Working with Hampshire County House of Corrections to get support for recently released citizens.
Created a working group to involve legislators in our process, advocate for funding. Working group will examine 2 bills and present findings to the group.
Creating a response to Baker’s bill and Jennifer’s bill – two proposals for responding to the crisis.

Learn 2 Cope Meeting Report
Learn 2 Cope requires a space and a facilitator. Rev. Wilburn has offered the space; we don’t yet have a facilitator, who would need to be trained. The meeting in Holyoke had 60 people and was “impressive.” Gail has been talking with Marci about bringing a chapter here.
